As promised – Tonight I’m sharing ALL of the recipes I whipped up for our Annual Coombs Family Back to School Dinner.
Each dish included some type of ‘cherry’ something or other {to go with our theme} which the kids thought was SO fun.
CHERRY COKE CHICKEN SLIDERS
{These seriously had the BEST flavor ever!}
4-6 chicken breasts
1 bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce
{ours is Sweet Baby Rays}
3/4 cup of Cherry Coke
1/2 cup brown sugar
I sprinkled my brown sugar right on top of the chicken breasts and then added the Cherry Coke and then the BBQ sauce. Cook all day on low or on High for about 5 hours.
Shred, add salt to taste and serve on little Hawaiian rolls.
Cherry Fluff
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple, well drained
1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip
Mix all together and chill before serving.
SPINACH SALAD WITH
CHERRY TOMATOES
1 bag of spinach
3-4 hard boiled eggs, sliced
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1 cucumber chopped
red onion, chopped
2 handfuls of cherry tomatoes
Add your favorite dressing –
Ranch and Poppyseed are good with this one!
CHERRY JELLO POKE CAKE
1 yellow cake mix – made according to directions on box
Once cake has been cooked and cooled – – poke holes all over it with the end of a wooden spoon.
Make up 1 box of cherry Jello according to package. Once you add the hot and cold water to the jello mix — stir well and then pour all over the cake so it seeps down into the bottom.
Top cake with 1 carton of Cool Whip and let refrigerate for about 4 hours before serving.
