Every year Joe and I throw a Coombs Family Halloween Bash. It might just be the highlight of my Halloween season. We eat dinner. Dress in costume. And then play a MEAN {and I mean MEAN} game of Fear Factor. Each year I try to out-think myself with new antics. {This year will not disappoint ….Coombs fam readers. Be afraid. Be very afraid.}
When I saw THIS post from Poca Cosa awhile back…I just knew that I needed to copy her idea for invitations. {Hey..that’s what blogs are for, right?} They just needed a little ‘Marci’ twist….and this is what I came up with:
The coffins were purchased at Michaels. They came unfinished. I painted them black and then added a coat of glue and glittered my heart away!
It of course needed some detail, so I added a pinwheel {FINALLY figured out how to make those. Geesh. I am like WAY behind}, some tulle, and a mini skeleton head. All stuck together with my favorite friend – the hot glue gun.
Inside was this little surprise…
I lined the coffin with burlap {a NEW favorite friend of mine}…added some candy bones and a skeleton, just the right size for these boxes.
Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha. To see our previous family Halloween parties….click HERE and HERE.

Did you mail these to your guests? If you don't mind me asking, exactly how did you mail them without them getting too roughed up?
Marci Coombs says
I did mail these! I believe I went to the post office and they had some boxes that were the perfect size. I think I put packing peanuts in with them as well! xoxo

Hi Marci!
My name is Lauren Wolfson and I work at Care.com, a website that connects families with great nannies and babysitters. We have a lot of helpful articles on our site and we’re putting together a roundup of Halloween Party Invitations this Fall. I’m a big fan of your blog and would love to feature your "Coffin Invitation" (http://marcicoombs.blogspot.com/2011/10/halloween-invitations.html) in the roundup. Would that be okay? We would of course link to your blog, sending lots of traffic your way!
We did a similar roundup for Summer Crafts for Kids this year. It would be this same format:
http://www.care.com/child-care-62-summer-crafts-for-kids-p1017-q30457360.html
As you can see, we also used a few images of the crafts throughout the previous roundup. We’d like to do the same thing with this Halloween Party Invitations article. Would it be okay if we used the image of the summer craft from your site in our article?
Please let me know if you have any questions at all!
Best,
Lauren

Receiving these in the mail made my heart all a-flutter. (But that may have been my nerves reacting to Fear Factor.)
