For Peace at Home: Stake Womens Conference.

“One of the greatest blessings we can offer to the world is the power of a Christ-centered home where the gospel is taught, covenants are kept, and love abounds.”
-Richard G. Scott

Finally.
A post about our annual Stake Womens Conference from last week.

When I first received my calling {job assignment in our church} last spring, the assignment {to be incharge of this particular evening} was given to me and I was totally nervous and felt completely inadequate to put on such a big event.

Let alone the fact that – – – I had never even served in a Relief Society position! Ever!

With much prayer and consideration and a REALLY REALLY amazing committee full of talented women – – we did it.  And it was exactly how I wanted it to turn out.

Simple. But elegant. And full of our Savior’s love for each sister in our stake.

400 women were in attendance.
It made my heart OH SO HAPPY!

As I prayerfully considered what the ‘theme’ for the evening should be – – the focus of HOME and FAMILIES kept ringing in my ears.  And then I remembered one of my most favorite talks on the planet from Elder Richard G. Scott called
“For Peace at Home”.

This particular talk {speech} speaks directly to my heart.
I could honestly read it over and over and over again.

Thus….our ‘theme’ was born….

FOR PEACE AT HOME
Opening Your Door to a Christ-centered Home
Gosh, I loved the centerpieces our committee came up with.
We found the paper mache houses at Hobby Lobby {for 40% off!} and spray painted them cream.

We dimmed the lights for dinner and popped some battery operated candles in them and they lit up so beautifully.

We also had vases filled with fresh cranberries and fresh sunflowers as well as glass bowl, covered in cheese cloth, wrapped with eucalyptus and another little candle to add glow.

Our evening consisted of:

Dinner – – 3 different soups to choose from + individual bread bowls + salad + fruit infused water + little mini desserts

A Key Note Speaker – – Shawni Pothier from 71 Toes
{Oh my goodness – – I could’ve listened to her speak ALL night long! She was SO inspiring and down to earth.}

3 different Classes to choose from

For details on our classes and what was offered…you can go HERE. We had 2 awesome ladies on our committee who did all of our graphic design + created a website for our stake with ALL of the details for the evening.  It was pretty awesome.

Outside each classroom we had a door {to go along with our ‘opening your door’ theme} with fresh sunflowers and eucalyptus hanging from it.

On the stage in the cultural hall where we ate our dinner {did I mention that we had 44 round tables set up?!?!}…we had more doors set up and then in the center – – a photo of Christ.
I so wish I would’ve taken pics of things like:
The food
The class speakers
The women
Our committee
Etc, Etc, Etc……..

But…..it was just a busy, busy night.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have been apart of this.

Our stake started this annual ‘tradition’ of having a womens conference a few years back and it has been so well received each year.  I do believe that the sisters in our stake look forward to it.  They are fed both spiritually AND physically.

And that is my favorite!
