I’ve been up to my eyeballs in COOKIE DOUGH lately.
I present to you….the Coombs family 2011 Neighbor gifts:
Because who doesn’t like to receive cookie dough to be baked and served WARM and FRESH? {Cookies fresh from the oven are my weakness. I have the hips to prove it}.
The original idea was spotted HERE.
I’ll let you in on a secret. I purchased the smaller containers HERE for $1.10 a piece. When I got them in the mail though, I thought….how on earth am I going to give a good sized family, this small of a container? {I don’t like to be chin-cey around the holidays}. So I went to my local Basha’s grocery store {LOVE!} and asked them for some of their large soup containers. And guess what? They sold em to me for 25 cents a piece!!! Score! Now I have the perfect sizes for both big AND small sized families!

These are super cute!! I am making teacher gifts and am assuming you wouldn't be able to leave this dough out, right? Any suggestions on keeping it cold?
Hmmmm….. no you definitely couldn't leave it out. Maybe put a note on it for the teachers to take it to the break room refrigerator? ๐
Thinking about doing one of these for my niece who's in college. Wondering if I could form them into balls, freeze them and then put them in the contaimer, so she could take out a few and bake as needed. And that way, I could tuck a little of the other kind of dough in with the dough balls as a little surprise later on.
Yes you absolutely could do that. Love that idea!!! xoxo
Hey Marci! Do you happen to remember what size and printing format you had michelle do your labels over at etsy on the 16oz containers? I want it to look good on the container! Thanks again!
Hey! I believe it was a 3×3" tag that she created. Hope that helps! And thanks for the heads up on the amazon deal. Love it!
FYI you can buy those 16oz containers on amazon.com 25 count for 15.95! WAY cheaper than $1.10 a peice:) thanks for this SUPER cute idea!!!
I found your blog doing a google search and love this idea. With a 3 year old and another baby on the way money is tight and this is the perfect gift to give a family. I wonder, could you use the plastic Christmas containers you find at walmart this time of year and fill and freeze them the same way if I can't find soup containers?
Yes Lisa, I think that would be totally ok to use those containers! Good luck!! xoxo
I would also love to have your cookie dough labels, if you are sharing. This is such a cute idea. Loan Against My Watch
I just discovered your blog on pinterest! Love it! I have a blog as well Our Organic Story.com Hope you can check it out:)
This is a great idea…with some teenagers, I may just put some money in some tubs and use the same phrase! They'll love it!
Hi – What a great idea! can you tell me how many labels (front and back) you could get on sheet of label paper? I need to make about 40 gifts so it could get expensive at 12.54 for 15 sheets. Thanks ๐
How far in advance can you make this dough before you give it as a gift? Can you make the dough, freeze it, then thaw and give?
If you are refrigerating then I would make it up just a couple of days ahead. But yes…you can freeze and thaw it!! Good luck! xoxo
Hi Marci! What a great idea! Have you been able to post your recipe somewhere? Are the baking directions on the back of the container?

The size I used was a 16 oz container. Hope this helps!
I would also like to know what size the label is. Is the container like quart size? I am having someone make me a label but wasn't sure what size to say. Thanks!
I love your idea. I am one that believes that presentation is half of the gift and this is amazing. I was wondering what size of container you ended up using. Thanks!
Unfortunately I don't have the label to send out. I paid for someone on etsy to custom make it with our name on it. Here is her link:
