Last night was our annual Young Women in Excellence program
and I must say….
we had a MOOOOvelous time!
{I apologize in advance for my puns. I just cannot resist.}
I also must mention – I got this whole idea from my blogging friend Tiffany found HERE. She is amazing and gave me ALL of the inspiration, including the invitation template, program template and poster.
We went with the whole ‘COW’ theme – – and focused on the second part of this year’s mutual theme:
“Stand ye in Holy Places and BE NOT MOVED“.
If you’d like the DETAILS of the evenings events…keep reading.
{This post is FULL of em. Plus lots of pictures!}
For refreshments, we went with a COOKIES and MILK bar.
LOVED this!!
We had each leader bring 3 dozen cookies and we had quite the spread.
Aren’t these cow shaped sugar cookies adorable?
They’re actually gingerbread men UPSIDE DOWN!
We served: chocolate chip, pumpkin chocolate chip, oatmeal, oatmeal chocolate chip, snickerdoodles and gingersnaps. And if you MUST know…YES…I sampled EACH one of them.
{Do you BLAME me?!}
I found these darling mini jars at Wal-mart.
They needed just a little OOMPH so I put a strip of decorative washi tape on each one.
Easy. Peasy.
I also purchased flavored straws {chocolate and strawberry} and those can be found in the same aisle as the hot chocolate and Nesquick at your grocery store. A box of 24 at Walmart was about $4.
As for take home favors for the girls {I can’t resist!}…..
We gave each girl an embroidered Gilbert, AZ temple handkerchief.
{FYI: The Gilbert temple is opening SOON and the dedication is set for March 2nd. We live about 5 minutes away from this and to say we are excited is an understatement! Our stake, along with 25 other stakes will be participating in the Multi-cultural Celebration and preparations have already begun!}
The date of the temple dedication {March 2, 2014} is also embroidered on the back.
Didn’t those turn out darling?
I struck gold and found a gal that lives super close to me that makes them and GUESS WHAT?
She said she can make them with ANY temple on them.
You can check out her facebook page and place your orders HERE.
As for our program…..
I’m all about keeping things to an hour tops.
Proud to say that his program lasted 45 minutes – – EVEN BETTER, right?!
I had my Laurels class president conduct the evening.
I spoke for about 5 minutes and introduced the theme for the night.
{If you’d like more details on my talk, feel free to contact me and I can send you some more information!}
3 of our girls who received their Personal Progress medallions this year spoke for about 2 minutes each on “How completeing their PP has helped them to STAND in HOLY PLACES and BE NOT MOVED.”
We had a special musical number, a short video and then a member of our bishopric spoke.
It was AWESOME!!!
MY ‘future young woman’ adoring all of the amazing projects! |
The girls all did such a great job with choosing projects to display.
Once the program was over, we had each girl take a picture in front of this:
Isn’t that THE CUTEST?
I have an advisor who just so happened to teach preschool and have it all on hand!
{Giddy-UP!}
The girls LOVED getting their pics taken in front of it and it was a FUN way to end the evening!
Gosh, I love these girls.
Such sweet young women.
Blessed, indeed!

Side Note: I purchased all of our cow print plates, napkins, balloons and bunting from Hobby Lobby. You can find it all in their party section with their western stuff. I felt like I had struck gold when I came across it all!
