* Friday morning Joe and I drove to Phoenix to buy our Christmas tree. Last year we ended up giving ours away because well…it had seen better days.
{And yes – we are an artificial Christmas tree family}.
I had NO IDEA when I gave ours away last year just how expensive trees can be!! I priced around and after I decided that there was NO WAY I was going to pay FULL PRICE {$400+} for the tree I wanted – – I looked on Craigslist.
And I struck gold.
I found a place that sells overstock Christmas trees and scored ourselves a 9 foot tree for a steal of a deal!
I cannot WAIT to put it up next Sunday.
{I always start decorating for Christmas the week of Thanksgiving.}
While we were in the ghetto – – we went to one of our very favorite mexican joints.
Yup – so ghetto that they have bars on all their windows AND doors. This is the type of place that you definitely would NOT go to at night. BUT….it is seriously THE BOMB. It’s consistently voted THE BEST OF PHOENIX every year for the BEST mexican food in the valley.
Yup – bare walls and paper plates.
We like our restaurants classy with a capital C.
* We also did some shopping.
I laughed my head off when I saw these signs…

I don’t care HOW AWESOME your family is….EVERY family has a little bit of disfunction around the holidays – – –
am I right?
* Friday night Carson and I went on a date.
He picked Kiwi Loco, of course.
And it was my lucky day because they brought back their Mint Chocolate Chip fro-yo.
Mix that up with Oreos and it’s a bit of heaven, I tell ya.
* Saturday morning London and I drove about 40 miles, just to get some specific supplies for my Etsy shop – – only to find out that the people at that store LIED when I talked to them the day before and gave me false information on what was ACTUALLY in stock. I came back empty handed and incredibly disppointed.
* Saturday night Joe and I were invited to an 80th birthday party for a very dear friend of ours.
This family just so happens to run a FRY BREAD booth at the State Fair every year and they make THE BEST fry bread in all of history. Joe and I were in heaven.
We met up with some of our FAVORITE friends at Brio afterwards for even MORE food and laughs.
{Tip: order their molten chocolate lava cake for dessert. It’s DREAMY!}
* Sunday morning we attended the
with our boys. {You had to be 8 and up to go}.
It was a SUPER special event and one that I’m so grateful to have been apart of.
Side Note: President Uchtdorf conducted the dedication today and while he was in town over the weekend, he posted this to his social media accounts.
{He’s so hipster!}

“We were also thrilled yesterday to pay a visit to the
neighborhood where we lived with our young family in the
1970s. Being here has allowed us to reminisce about the joys
and trials of life at that time. Looking back, I’ve learned we
should never wait for a “better time.” Sometimes in life we
think, “Well, when the kids are older . . .” or “When we move
over there . . .” or “When this part is behind us . . .” or “When
I get a new assignment . . .” or whatever it is. I think the
important thing is really — especially as younger people —
use the time you have now to create wonderful memories in
your marriage and in your family. You will never lose them
and they will be a foundation of strength throughout your
life.”
Isn’t that the BEST advice EVER?!?!
I just love him!
* Sunday night we went over to my parents house for dinner.
Per usual – – my brother managed to tease the living snot outta my kids….
…and he and Joe helped get my parent’s Christmas tree out from the garage and put it up. {It’s ginormous.}
My mom and and dad will then have ALL the grandkids over tomorrow night to help decorate it. So fun!
I just love this time of year.

Speaking of THIS time of year….have you thought about Christmas cards yet?
I have and I can’t WAIT to send them out.
I found THE BEST gal to make them up for me.
I told her what I wanted and BAM she made it happen.
She is a delight and if you’re interested…you can check her out here:
Or you can find her on facebook here:
P.S. Did I mention that her prices are the BEST as well?!

Hi Becky! It's a place called Victory Electronics in Phoenix, AZ. I found them on Craigslist. They were great. Totally a sketchy area of town 😉 but totally awesome products and price!
