I held a Young Womens Board meeting this week at my house with all of my fabulous leaders.
{I am blessed with SUCH GOOD leaders to work with!}
I hadn’t made cinnamon rolls in a long time
and this was the perfect excuse to whip some up.
{You should know that I am deathly afriad of yeast. EXCEPT for this recipe of cinnamon rolls}.
This recipe is from my sister and it is the BOMB-diggity.
Uh-MaZiNg!!!
I went over to her house a couple of years ago to watch her make it…step by step…in hopes that I wouldn’t fail when I made them myself. So here are the step by step instructions…enjoy!!!
Clone of a Cinnabon
Heat oven to 200 degrees while you’re making the dough.
Dough:
1 cup WARM milk
2 1/2 tsp. yeast {I use the Rapid Rise kind}
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup melted butter
4 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix milk and 1 Tbs of the sugar {take this out of the 1/2 cup} until dissolved adn then add yeast.
Let it ‘proof’ for a few minutes so you know the yeast is working {it will start to bubble a bit}.
In your mixing bowl {I use my kitchen Aid and it is PERFECT for this recipe}…add the rest of the sugar, and the wet ingredients. Then mix in the yeast mixture. Add the dry ingredients and mix and knead until it becomes a soft ball.
Turn OFF the oven. Cover the dough with a damp towel over the bowl and put in warmed oven for 1 hour. It will double in size. Turn out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
While you are letting the dough ‘rest’…mix together your filling:
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3 Tbs. cinnamon
Stir completely in a small bowl so that there are no lumps.
Roll dough in to a large rectangle and smear with 1/3 cup SOFTENED butter.
Sprinkle evenly with the sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Roll up the dough {tightly} and cut into about 1-1 1/2 inch sized rolls.
{I usually get about 14 GOOD sized rolls and 4 little-er rolls on the ends}.
Place rolls in lightly greased 9×13 pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake rolls in oven until golden brown…about 12-15 minutes.
While baking…make the icing.
{I could eat this with a spoon!}
1 8 oz package of cream cheese
1/2 cup butter softened
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
Mix together the cream cheese and butter. Add the powdered sugar and thn vanill and salt and beat until creamy.
Spread the frosting over warm {not hot} rolls before serving.
They’re a HIT. I promise.
I might’ve had 2 the night that I made them.
{In my defense…it was a BIG one and a LITTLE-er one!}
NOTE: from start to finish these take about 2-3 hours to make.
Most of that time though is spent with the dough rising.

I love all your ideas and how you seem to show appreciation to all those involved in the organization. I would love to hear more about what roll your advisers play in your ward. I could use some help…

Thanks Nanny! My advisors teach twice a month, come to mutual and are also in charge of Personal Progress and following up with the girls in their classes with what they've completed and in setting goals. They are GREAT and help out so much!!! xoxo

Can't wait to try these. I haven't ever had good luck with cinnamon rolls…really bread in general! Thanks for sharing. I think I am feeling brave enough to try them again!

I'm not sure if I'm missing it, but I don't see how much cinnamon to use. I see it says "1 1/2 cups brown sugar &
3 Tbs. sugar." Is there supposed to be cinnamon too? Or do you just sprinkle whatever cinnamon sugar mixture you already have? This looks so good….I'd love to try them! Thanks so much….I enjoy your blog a lot ๐
Marci Coombs says
Ahhhh!! Thank you for pointing that out! I'll go ahead and make the change right now. The 3 Tbs. is supposed to be cinnamon. Not more sugar ๐ xoxo
