My mom has been Relief Society President ever since I can remember.
8 times if you’re counting to be exact.
{Sometimes ward…sometimes stake.}
I keep telling her that she needs to do something drastic so that they’ll quit calling her.
{Ha!}
My mom is pretty amazing.
This past week I helped her throw a Relief Society Gratitude themed dinner for 60 people in her home.
I should mention that the night before…as we were preparing…my dad got very ill and had to be rushed into the hospital. He had a blocked bowel and some pretty intense stomach pains, but those details are for a different time. {He is home now and doing well!}
One thing my mother has taught me is that you go with the punches.
And that we did.
{I should also mention that my mom rarely complains and rarely has ‘wo is me’ moments.
I really need to take a page outta her book}.
The actual night went off without a hitch and I couldn’t have been more pleased with everything.
We decorated the tables with burlap and mason jars covered in lace.
Some were filled with popcorn kernels and candles.
Others were filled with artificial leaves.
They served a ham dinner complete with cheesy potatoes, salads, rolls and an assortment of desserts.
The main speaker of the evening was my mom’s good friend and neighbor.
She spoke about keeping a gratitude journal and the importance thereof.
It was inspiring and touching.
For favors, my mom’s presidency made up a gratitude journal for everyone to take home.
{They mod podged composition notebooks and added a few details.}
The weather was perfect that evening…as some sat inside and others sat outside on the patio.
My mom and I had so much fun with this activity.
{So what if we were so tired the next day we couldn’t get outta bed??}
We both share the same sense of OCD when it comes to decorating and party planning.
GRATEFUL for such a wonderful example in my life.

Thanks for posting, Marci!! You and your Mom are both so talented. Sorry to hear about Ralph. He better stop eating popcorn. Seems like he said that is something he can't eat. I love your posts and seeing what you will come up with next. That is quite a big project to take on, but looks like it turned out wonderfully.
