Day 9 we woke up and sadly came to grips with the fact that we had to head back home to the heat.
Our friends that we stayed with are the absolute BEST hosts and made us the most delicious breakfast ever.
Waffles, hashbrowns, sausage and the most to die for carmel syrup I have ever tasted!!!
{Recipe at the bottom of this post. I promise you’ll LOVE it!}
* We loaded up and were on our way for the 7.5 hour {but really 8.5 hour with all of our pit stops} drive home.
I started AND finished this book!
It’s a true story and was VERY interesting.
It’s a little on the graphic side ๐ฌ but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
* We stopped at our favorite stop for cookies…
Their lemon sugar cookies are what dreams are made of.
Seriously though…..DOES ANYONE HAVE THEIR RECIPES?!? They’re divine.
We drove thru some rain which was a nice change.
{Yes, I know I need a pedicure like stat}.
And then returned home to our favorite puppy!!!!
Man, who knew you could miss a pet SO MUCH while you’re on vacation!!?? So thankful for fabulous friends who helped take care of him while we were gone.
Reunited and it feels SO good.

Buttermilk Caramel Syrup
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
4 T. Karos syrup
2 sticks butter
2 tsp. baking soda
4 tsp. vanilla
Mix together everything BUT the vanilla in a large pan. It will expand because of the baking soda. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Serve warm.
Leftovers will keep for about a week or two in the fridge.

It's always bitter sweet to come home!
It rained all day today and after a week of high 90s it was so welcomed… I've stopped looking at houses in az now.. I know I couldn't make it haha

Make sure you use a large pan ~ larger than you think you will need, because it boils up way high. We loved having you ~ thanks for the nice words.
