Coombs’ Valentine Bash 2014!

February 11, 2014 | Uncategorized

This past weekend Joe and I held our annual Valentine’s Party.
We’ve been doing this the last few years and it’s always SO much fun!!
This year we invited 8 couples over for dinner, a white elephant gift exchange and a steamy round of the Not-So-Newlywed Game.
Here’s the deets for all you party lovers:
I chose to go with a hot pink, black and white color scheme, with just a touch of gold.
For places settings, I used black chargers, chevron paper plates from Hobby Lobby and pink heart shaped plates from Wal-mart. I topped those with heart shaped doilies and then made my own heart ‘arrows’ to finish it all off.
The arrows were super simple to make and consisted of: a paper straw, a gold glittered heart cut out by hand from scrapbook paper, and 3 whispy white feather, hot glued onto the bottom.
{I told you they were easy!}
When you use chargers as part of your places settings, you really don’t much room for centerpieces so I kept it simple with pink gerber daisies {my FAVORITE!}

I completey spaced taking pics of the food table so here’s what our menu included:

Joe and I ordered tamales and mini chimichangas from one of our favorite restaurants.

I assigned out in each invitation {HERE} a dish for each couple to bring:
It was either a green salad, refried beans, rice, chips and salsa, fresh fruit and couple of different desserts.

IT WAS ALL DeLISH!!!!!!!
{And I’ll be sharing a few of those recipes soon!}

As for the entertainment part of the evening:

We had each couple bring TWO white elephant gifts.
One NAUGHTY. And one NICE.
And they. Were. Funny!!! And slightly risque.
It’s a good thing this group all has such a FUNNY sense of humor!

I also made up a NOT-so-NEWLYWED game that I passed out and had everyone answer.

Yes, I felt the need to include the word ‘whoopee’ on one of the questions.

These are always SO MUCH FUN and tend to really bring out the TRUE COLORS in spouses!
{Smile}.
You always go away learning MORE about other couples than when you first started the game.
{Chuckle}.

If you’d like a copy of this game, feel free to leave a comment with your email address and I can send it over to you for your own personal use.

And since every party deserves a
take home favor….

I whipped up a batch of my Homemade Hot Fudge and put them in jars for everyone to take home.
{For my recipe you can click HERE. It’s a winner!}
To add a little pizazz to the jars, I added lacey ribbon and a circle cut out of wrapping paper and glued to the lid.

I also created my first ever CHALKBOARD themed printable and I will say… I’m kinda proud of myself with how it turned out.

Happy Valentine’s WEEK!!!
xoxo

    Also….I don't know if you've ever made a post about this, but…..since you go to Disneyland so much, I'm curious about a few more details……I'd like to know where you always stay? I like to be within walking distance, but not as PRICEY as the Disneyland Resorts, ya know what I mean? And where do you buy your tickets? (I know you can get them for less than what they charge at the D-land ticket booth.) Do you go through a travel agency/website or just piece it all together on your own? Thanks for the info! ๐Ÿ˜‰
