Our annual Coombs Halloween Party is in the books!
This little shin-dig we do each year might just be my very favorite thing about Halloween.
Is that wierd?
We’re surrounded by GOOD friends, GOOD food and AWESOME costumes….what more could we ask for?
It’s SO MUCH FUN!
As promised…I’m sharing ALL of the details with you today.
I hope you enjoy…..
Let’s start with our family Halloween costumes
CAN YOU EVEN with this cute duo of mine???
Each and every year – – London comes up with something VERY specific in her mind as to what she wants to dress up as and it usually includes Joe as her sidekick.
One of the MANY things I love about Joe is that he’s ALWAYS game for ANYTHING!!! With London…with me….he’s always so quick to say ‘Sure, why not?’ and I LOVE that about him!
London wanted to be ‘an ice-cream worker girl’ this year and we made sure to make that happen!
She already had the apron and shirt. We added the bow tie and hat {from Amazon}. I found the wooden tray at Goodwill and I had a friend drill some holes into it for the cones and twine. I spray painted the tray white. We used play-doh for the ice-cream and Wa-LaH!!!
It couldn’t have been more perfect for her!
Grant went as a CHICK MAGNET.
Carson was a ZOMBIE BOXER.
And in case you missed yesterday’s post….
I was BEE-yonce.
ALL of our friends came DRESSED UP as well which makes my party throwing heart OH SO HAPPY!
Such good sports!
That cute boy in the middle was ‘DUNKIN DONUTS’.
So clever, right?
And his cute mom was a fellow PUN-ned out character…
She came as DR. PEPPER.
CLASSIC!
Place settings were super simple.
I used polka dot Hobby Lobby wrapping paper as my table covers. I strung paper ribbon down the middle….
And then used paper {yes PAPER!} plates on top of my black chargers.
We had lots of yummy eats to go around…
The adults had pumpkin shaped bread bowls with 2 different kind of soups:
THIS recipe and then my go-to recipe for chili which I’ll be sharing SOON.
I had everyone GUESS the amount of candy in my candy jar.
Once it was all filled up there were 461 pieces!
Winner got to take the jar home!
Each family filled out one of my CANDY QUIZZES…
The winning family took him THIS.
And then we ended the evening with another rousing game of FEAR FACTOR!
This might’ve just been the highlight.
Or……not, for some.๐
I started the rounds off EASY {for the littler kids} and then they got progressivley harder/grosser as we went on.
Round 1: Post It Masks
Whoever could get the MOST Post-It notes on their partner in 1 minute wins!
Round 2: Ghost Boogers
Whoever could suck up the MOST ghost boogers {marshmallows} with their straws and put them into their other bowls, won! Players had 30 seconds.
Round 3: Frankenstein’s Baby Food
I purchased 3 different types of legit baby food and EVERYONE on each team had to 1) take a taste of the baby food and 2) guess which flavor it was.
{Oddly enough, my friend Tiff enjoyed this round WAY too much. ๐๐
}
Round 4: Cry Baby Tears
Who can suck on one of these EXTRA sour candies for the longest WITHOUT making a face!
Who can suck on one of my JALAPENO SUCKERS for the longest without taking it out of their mouth!
{I should mention….these kids were FIERCE!}
Round 5: Soda Chug
Who can chug one of my GROSS soda bottles the fastest?
We have a candy store close by that sells ANY POSSIBLE flavor of soda that you can imagine. I purchased:
Pickle flavor, Butter flavor, Dirt flavor and Barf flavor.
Surprisingly…all 4 bottles got chugged and no one barfed.
Our last and FINAL round was….
Round 6: Gross Foods
Our local grocery store that I shop at has a WHOLE candy section devoted to mexican candies. Some of them….look {and taste} gross! which was perfect for this round!
We had everyone taste:
Zombie Rocks {pictured above} = salted plums.
Monster Tongues = seaweed
Devil Turds = Fruit candy with salt and chili
Black Crow Bird Seed = sesame seed brittle
Slimy Burgers = sardines in mustard

The night was a HIT, I was pooped afterwards and we’re all already looking forward to next year’s party.

So my hubby decided this past weekend as we were driving home from our daughters second reception (AZ) wish I could have met you in real life while I was there. That we should have a Halloween party I said that would be great but it's Saturday night now (10pm) we weren't even home yet.
I asked him how he imagined us doing that in 5 days? Since aswe know Sunday isn't a day we can do anything. I mean for this obviously.
He said oh I don't know but that friend of yours from Arizona will give you great ideas. Just steal hers. I laughed so hard I almost had an accident in the car. I said she sure does save me over and over again. But Jeff it's less than a week from now. He told me just to ask you (my friend from AZ) he even asked if you had been at the reception? If so why didn't I introduce him to you. He actually wanted to thank you for saving me so much.
Well it was all I could do to quit laughing but every time I randomly thought of his comments I would start giggling again. Yes I woke him up because I was laughing. But he kept me awake thinking of it and laughing.
So I love these ideas. I guess I am going to steal as many as I can. But I am not doing dinner. Just dips etc. snacky foods. I know for sure we will have 8 people here. My 3 kids that are married and Jeff and I. I also have some other kids that are mine too. Not really but they call me ma or mama J or just mom. So they will come which will be 5 more couples.
You know my husband doesn't do Facebook or any social media. He loves the friends I have though. My MM friends etc. but to think you would have been at the reception just made me laugh. It was in Chandler. My daughter was married here in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple with her reception here. Then they had a reception there since that's where Cameron is from. Do you know any Brande's? His parents are Rikelle and Michael Brande he's the oldest but has two sisters and one brother. Amelia, Elise and Lucas.
My brother Kelly Railsback and his wife Shannon live in Gilbert. Their daughter Lindsay Dickerson is married and has 3 boys that are closer to your kids ages. Hayden, Ace and Coleton. My other brother lives there too in Gilbert Larry Taylor and his wife Millie. They have Chris and Shayla Taylor Chris is their son Shayla his wife. He has a daughter Stephanie married to Bob McGill they have 4 kids too. Jennifer Taylor isn't married now but has two children Jordan and Madison they also have a daughter Samantha Taylor she's a school teacher and lives she n San Tan my sister Kristy Taylor and her husband Dale Taylor used to live in San Tan but moved to Kanab after he took an early retirement last year.
Oh I have a niece Mindi married to Christian Petrie they are in Higley. They have Liam Gabe and Maddison too. So I do have family in AZ and that was fun to have them all there for the reception.
Anyway….thanks for being my friend that saves me all the time. Thanks for being my best friend that Jeff is still sad he didn't meet. I explained I haven't met you in person either. But he said "yes you did Lisa she's the friend you found when you were put your n YW 6 years ago, how can you can you say you haven't met her?" I will leave you with that comment.
Hopefully you will laugh as much as I did.
I do think of you as my wonderful friend. I love and adore you. Thanks for everything you do for me. It means so much. I know it's not just for me. But it really does feel like it is.
