Christmas Neighbor Gifts: Potpourri in a Jar.

November 12, 2014 | Christmas, Etsy Shop, Neighbor Gifts, Printables

Have you started thinking about what to give your friends and neighbors this year for the holiday season?

I LOVE giving out ‘Neighbor’ gifts.
It’s one of my FAVORITE things about the holidays.

I can’t WAIT to share with you what I have up my sleeve for THIS year’s gifts….so for the next few days…I’ll be sharing the gifts we’ve given out in years past.

I always try to make my neighbor gifts:

* Cost efficient – I usually have to make like 25.
* Fun and cute
* Something people can ACTUALLY USE and ENJOY!

When I started this little ole blog of mine – – I had NO Idea that one of my MOST POPULAR POSTS EVER would be my Christmas Potpourri in a jar!
Last year I decided to create a FREE printable so others could replicate it.

I LOVE THIS GIFT!
The smell that comes from whats inside of this jar is HEAVENLY when simmered on your stove.

Here’s what you’ll need to make them up:

{FYI they are SUPER simple!}

1 pint jar

3 cinnamon sticks

3 bay leafs

2-3 Tbs. of WHOLE cloves {these will cost you the most}

1 lime slice

2 lemon wedges

2 orange slices

Place ingredients in jar and fill with water.

Attach my printable TAG {below} and you are set!

Here’s what it will look like:

Growing up, my mom always had a pot of this simmering on

our stove during the holiday season.  The smell still brings

back such fun memories. Anytime the water would get

low…she’d add just keep adding more. It would last her all

December long.

You can find an updated version of my Christmas Potpourri tags HERE.

Also – – I am MORE than flattered when others

 ‘replicate’ my ideas and come up with their

‘own’ tags.  I just

PLEASE ask that you give credit where credit

is due when posting, and please link back to

this original post.  xoxo

    I made this last night to try and my house smells amazing, so thank you!!! I was wondering are the jars really 1 pint size or are they 1/2 pint? One of the pictures makes it look like a 1/2 pint. Also, I was wondering what size container of cloves did you buy to make it most cost efficient? And where did you get it? I am thinking I want to make a bunch too. I haven't looked into it yet but can you buy a large container of cloves, cinnamon sticks etc at Costco? Thanks so much!

      You are very welcome! You can really use whatever type of 'smaller' jar you have on hand but I recommend the pint size just because everything fits so well in there together. As for the cloves – I bought them in bulk at Sprouts…like where you can scoop as much as you want into a bag..ya know? Someone commented once though on my blog that you can buy cloves for super cheap on Amazon – – so maybe check there? And the cinnamon sticks can be found at the $ store!! Good luck and thanks for commenting! xoxo
